Get rid of your decluttered items

Get rid of your decluttered items with these tips, tricks, and ideas. Get rid of your trash in a responsible manner, rather than allowing it to clutter your home.

You might be wondering what to do with your decluttered items as you work on decluttering your home.

The sheer volume of items you’re getting rid of can be overwhelming at times.

And there are probably a lot of things you don’t want to throw away.

What Should I Do With the Items I’ve Decluttered?

While it’s best to get your decluttered items out of the house as soon as possible, it’s also worthwhile to research responsible ways to dispose of clutter.

It could even pay off for you!

Here are some resources and ideas to help you get rid of your decluttered items so you can declutter with a clear conscience:

Recycle Your Plastic Film – It appears that all types of plastic film can be recycled at local drop-off locations. In most grocery stores, there is a plastic bag recycling bin near the entrance where you can dispose of your used plastic bags. I haven’t done any research on this one to see if the plastic is recycled, but it can’t hurt to give it a shot.

Hold a garage sale – Price your items to sell, and then pack up your belongings and donate them at the end of the day. You’ll make a little money and be rid of the clutter. Going through a garage sale day can be a great motivator to keep future clutter out of your home!

Sell your items at a resale store – We did this with our baby and children’s items, and it turned out to be quite profitable!

Freecycle – You can post items you want to give away, and if someone is interested, they will respond to your post. I usually leave my items on the front porch for the person to pick up, or I drop it off at their workplace if I believe it would be safer. We’ve used Freecycle to get rid of moving boxes, prom shoes, shipping packaging, old mops and brooms, and a variety of other items. I like Freecycle because I know the person who is taking the items is genuinely interested in them.

Donate – Donating clutter is one of the simplest ways to get rid of it. The sooner you get rid of clutter in your home, the sooner it can be used by others who truly need it.
